Tom Bernhardt Nibley City Council 2019

My name is Tom Bernhardt and I'm running for re-election to the Nibley City Council. Over the last 4 years on the City Council I've been able to learn and grow as both a person and city councilman. I originally ran on the following platform:
  • Maintain the rural feel and for it to continue be a great place to live
  • Continue to be fiscally responsible with the taxpayer money that is entrusted to the City
  • Continue having green space available for citizens to utilize and enjoy
  • Encouraging appropriate commercial development based on current zoning and the City’s Master Plan
These 4 pillars of my original platform are still a valid platform. The citizens have made it very clear to the city that you continue to want a rural feel and green space for us to enjoy. We have tried to take that into account as new subdivisions have come in and making sure that it's clear to the developers as well.

I really have enjoyed my time on the council. It's a great council with everyone having an interest in making sure that Nibley continues to be a gem of the valley.

My name is Tom Bernhardt. My family and I have resided in Nibley since December 2007. I currently am employed as a Program Manager at Space Dynamics Laboratory (SDL).

In February 2015 I was appointed to the Planning & Zoning Commission and learned a great deal while on the Committee. In July 2015 I was appointed by the City Council to fill the vacancy left by Amber Whittaker.

I’m interested in helping Nibley City:
  • Maintain the rural feel and for it to continue be a great place to live
  • Continue to be fiscally responsible with the taxpayer money that is entrusted to the City
  • Continue having green space available for citizens to utilize and enjoy
  • Encouraging appropriate commercial development based on current zoning and the City’s Master Plan

I’ve only been involved with the City Council for a small period of time this year. In the short time that I’ve been a part of the City Council I’ve learned a lot and recognize that there is still a lot more to learn. Nibley currently faces several issues that will have a financial impact to each citizen. It’s important that the City gets these decisions right as it does have a direct impact to each one of us today as well as future citizens.

I’ve thoroughly enjoyed my time serving the citizens of Nibley and look forward for the opportunity to continue serving if the citizens are willing to continue to have me do so.
